Chan Wai Man, put simply, was a bad motherfucker. If you’ve ever considered who would beat who in real life, this dude would be near the top of the list.
He was actually one Bruce Lee’s best friends but, from a young age, began developing Triad connections (hence the tattoos). He then attempted to join the police force and got turned away due to his gangster affiliated past.
When it comes to martial arts, the guy was a beast. He learned traditional Shaolin styles from a young age but, much like Bruce, was for more interested in effective combat and so he turned to boxing and kickboxing, taking up the latter professionally.
His first fourteen fights ended victoriously…via fourteen knockouts. Like I said, the man was a beast.
Amazingly, despite his life story, he has been in a shitload of kung fu films - including some certified classics - and is still acting today (he was recently in “Bad Blood”).
But in the pantheon that is on screen martial artists, this guy would deliver a serious arse kicking to most. Yes, including Donnie Yen.
